Company that puts customer health first

Q [Information] Why do I need a drug gene test?
A
Individual medicines can have varying degrees of efficacy or side effects. This reaction may be due to differences in the level of expression and activity of the drug metabolizing enzyme that can be determined by the genetic character of the individual. SPMED Co., Ltd. [Pharmacogenetic test] provides information that will help prescribe medication of a doctor by providing information based on scientific and clinical usefulness. [Pharmacogenetic test] can filter out drugs that do not fit my body, reduce side effects and increase the therapeutic effect.
Q [Payment] When do I pay?
A
1. Inspection Request

2. Confirmation of quotation and Contract

3. Progress of inspection service

4. Result delivery

5. Issuance and Payment of transaction statement

* If you use a long-term contract inspection service, you can collect inspection requests and pay them once a month according to the contract.

* Please contact the Management Planning Department(help@spmed.kr) for details.

Q [PGx Test] How is personal information managed, and how are the samples handled that obtained from the test results processed?
A
Your personal information and test results are strictly and securely managed in accordance with the 「Personal Information Protection Act」 and the 「Bioethics and Safety Act」. The test results can be viewed after login, and genetic testing institution will dispose of the objects immediately after they are obtained, unless they are provided to the researcher or the bank in accordance with the 「Bioethics and Safety Act」 revised in December 2017.
Q [PGx Test] How is the test method chosen?
A

The most appropriate method is selected based on the number and type of specimens, gene and mutation characteristics.

If there is a separate request for the inspection method, it will be selected by the application method.

For more information, please contact us(help@spmed.kr).

Q [PGx Test] What is the test method?
A

Sequence analysis and specific site mutation tests are mainly used. All methods are basically PCR(Polymerase Chain Reaction) and amplify the desired DNA region. You can amplify a small amount of DNA and synthesize large amounts of DNA, so you can test various gene mutations.

* Sequencing: By the standard method of sequencing, long base sequence is known.

* PCR-RFLP: DNA can be cleaved with restriction enzymes to determine the presence or absence of mutations. Because of the variety of restriction enzymes and excellent specificity, mutations in specific regions can be easily identified.

* Real-time PCR: Real-time PCR allows short-time, low-cost monitoring of specific site mutations and real-time monitoring. Optimized for single mutation detection.

* SNaPshot: It takes less time and less cost than Sequencing, and allows you to identify multiple SNPs in a single reaction.

Q [PGx Test] How does genetic testing work?
A

The genetic testing process proceeds as follows.

1. Specimen/document acquisition and quality control

2. DNA extraction and quality control

3. PCR

4. Gene sequencing

5. Identification of mutation

6. Making the results

Q [PGx Test] What is QC(Quality Control)?
A

QC (Quality Control) is a process to check whether the specimen and test results are suitable for genetic testing.

1. Condition of specimen:  If the condition of the specimen does not meet the standard, the DNA recovery rate is low and the test result may not come out properly. Please prepare specimen by referring to [Precautions for each sample].

2. State after separation of DNA: If the DNA status does not meet the standard, the test results may not be displayed correctly.

3. QC for the inspection process: This is the process of inspecting whether the inspection has proceeded properly.

The most significant effect in all procedures may be influenced by the condition of the sample. Please prepare specimen by referring to [Precautions for each sample].

Q [PGx Test] How should I send the sample?
A

After confirming [Precautions for each sample], please send the sample to the following address according to the instructions.

Address: 611, New Industrial Factory Complex(NIFC) 6F, 111, Hyoyeol-ro, Buk-gu, Busan, Republic of Korea

Precision Medicine Department, SPMED CO., Ltd

Person in charge for Genetic Testing

After confirming the type of sample and the quality control standard, send the sample according to the instructions.

Q [PGx Test] How can I get my test results?
A

You can check/download from [my page] after logging in, and it is provided as PDF by default. It can also be provided in other file formats, such as Word on request. If you change the result, you are responsible for it.

When there is a separate request, we provide a second analysis (Haplotype / LD / Variation Prediction etc.) using the results. This may incur additional costs.

Q [PGx Test] How do I know the progress of the test?
A
After logging in, you can check on [My Page].
